It’s time for another One Room Challenge update! This week was a lot of boring tedious stuff, but this is what’s going on!
I’ve made a lot more progress than I originally thought with the scallops. Turns out that I only need one coat of the gold, and that helped.
I want to accentuate the Juliet balcony so I got a round shower curtain rod and spray painted it gold. I also found some gold dot fabric at Hobby Lobby that I may use for the drapes.
The IKAT dot is a perfect match with her hamper, although the gold is a little lighter than I wanted, but it might still work well.
I also did the tedious and sad job of going through the last of her baby things to donate. When we moved in a year ago, I just threw everything in her closet with no organization so it was nice to get some order back.
I had a few ideas on how to organize her closet…1) create a play space with her kitchen; 2) take the doors off and put in a hutch I’m inheriting from my grandma; 3) simple organization (see below).
I will need to paint the rods.
I think I’m going with this model and will think about other options when she’s older. Her kitchen probably needs to be downstairs (where she primarily is) right now.
I want to decorate the baskets similar to how I did in her nursery.
And what to do with all the stuffed animals girls acquire? Oh my goodness. For now this is what I came up with.
Here’s what I will be working on next: A reading corner. I need to convert this Target Pillowfort unicorn into “Goldie” from Goldilicious and paint and install the IKEA spice racks to hold her books. I thought about trying a different book storage option because we’ve used them in so many rooms, but you should never fix what isn’t broken, right?
I also need to paint this guy. It needs a little BB Frosch chalk paint love. I will probably do some ivory with some gold distressing. I also found some new hardware at Hobby Lobby, 50 percent off.
I will be repainting the handles in either gold or ivory with some gold distressing.
Couldn’t decide between these two…I’m thinking the left one because I’m a sucker for glam.
And this sweet little doll bed my friend gave me will be getting some BB Frosch chalk paint love as well. Maybe same color as the ceiling or ivory or blush. Decisions, decisions.
I have some flower decals for the crib wall. I haven’t been able to put them up because apparently when walls are freshly painted you have to wait four weeks for the paint to cure before doing decals. Never knew that! Some sources online said 2-3 weeks, but I think I will be safe and go with the instructions for mine and wait four.
I’m getting pretty excited about the upcoming projects that will have a bigger impact! Be sure to check out what the other participants are up to this week as well.

The room is beautiful! We did my daughters nursery in gold and pink when she was a baby. Now that we moved and she is a “big girl” of 3 years she wants a mermaid room, so that will be one of my next projects.
The scallops are beautiful and such a perfect touch! I love the dresser that you have. It has awesome character to it!

Thank you so much! I will have to see this mermaid room – my daughter loves Little Mermaid so I could see that being her next request. Thanks! re: the dresser. I got that from a friend and I’m not looking forward to painting it, but I’m sure it will look so much better when it’s done!
