We are hosting my in-laws from Miami as well as my family for Thanksgiving, so we’ve been pouring over our menu this weekend. My husband and I tag team it: he’s in charge of mains and sides, and I handle the apps, desserts, breakfast and drinks. We have a few classics, but we always try a few new recipes, so here is this year’s line-up in case you’re looking for ideas or are in charge of a dish.
Because of some health issues, including Crohn’s, we are generally gluten-free, dairy-free (although we often cheat with cheese) as well as meat/poultry free (we still eat fish so we are technically pescatarian), but on holidays we try to have a variety of recipes since not everyone has dietary restrictions. But for those who do, there are still plenty of options.
Breakfast
Egg & Potato Casserole (sans sausage)
Appetizers
Pomegranate Almond Sage White Cheddar Cheese Ball – I’m pretty excited about this one! We will include rice crackers for the GF crowd
Veggie/Meat/Fruit Plate – How pretty is this platter? I’m using it as inspiration.
Drink
Dinner
Turkey with this Brine and Make-Ahead Gravy (using Cup for Cup Flour to make it GF)
Basic Stuffing (subbing GF bread plus a couple eggs to moisten)
Brown Butter Sage Butternut Squash (refined sugar free)
Green Bean Casserole (Progressive Cream of Mushroom is GF)
Balsamic Roasted Brussel Sprouts (sans pancetta)
Cranberry Sauce (we always use Aunt Nancy’s recipe which is posted here)
Dessert
Ruth’s Chris’ Sweet Potato Pie (using Cup for Cup Flour to make it GF)
Gluten-free and Dairy-free Pumpkin Pie
Homestyle Apple Pie with Caramel Sauce Topping (depending on how much time I have, I might use this deep dish pie crust recipe instead of pre-made)
Now it’s time to compile the shopping list, which is not as fun as the planning part, haha! And finish my decorating. But it’s all fun stuff!

Or this neutral fall centerpiece, which is my starting point for this year’s tablescape.
Happy Thanksgiving week!
