It’s been a rough week being quarantined because of a nasty flu so my hubby suggested I go to a movie to get away, but writing a blog post should do the trick. At one point both the boys were sleeping and peaceful so I snuck in a project I’ve had sitting around for awhile.
The only problem was that I couldn’t remember my project vision. This is why it isn’t a good idea to let projects sit around!
I finally figured out that I was going to make a few key chains for Christmas gifts. Oops! And I messed up – I thought I could use all the names with “love” but that didn’t work out because “ov” wasn’t a word. On to Plan B…C…D. Plan D didn’t seem like a good idea because “love” didn’t fit in? That doesn’t work!
So I pulled out my Scrabble board game and borrowed a few tiles. This one was much better.
I was going to use a glassless frame, but my friend gave me the idea of using a canvas as the back. I wanted to use burlap, but the white was showing through, so I mod podged some fabric on beforehand.
Now, to secure the burlap. I used little pins and a thimble to push them through the wood frame on the back.
Sometimes it looked like this.
And other times it wouldn’t go in all the way and it looked like this.
And now it’s all secure.
I hot glued the scrabble tiles to the burlap.
It looked too plain so I touched it up with a stencil.
And now it’s ready to hang in the wall collage I’m working on.
Here is a sneak peak. I’ve still got some work to do, but I’m excited about it!
