It always seemed like a good idea to buy postcards, but then I never knew what to do with them until it hit me when I was brainstorming ideas for a skinny wall space in our travel-themed guest room: postcards would work on a barrette-holder-type thing.
So I bought a wooden plaque and some cardboard sticker letters at Hobby Lobby. After I painted and applied the sticker letters, I covered the edges with a little bit of Vaseline so the brown would still show through after I sanded it.
I used “traditional burnt umber,” which has a a hint of plum.
After it dried, I painted it cream and sanded the edges and the top just a tad to give it the “weathered” look. Then I hot glued a long piece of navy ribbon to the back.
I used a Command strip to hang it.
I got the fun city tacks from Ballard Designs.
Now my postcards are out of the box and the skinny wall isn’t bare anymore.
