I can’t believe I haven’t gone to Sipping n’ Painting sooner! What a fun night learning to paint and hanging with one of my besties. Wait until you see our masterpieces…
Rachel and I were pretty excited about our night out, and I typically like crafty/DIY stuff, but I was still a little nervous because I don’t have the fine art gene. I think Rachel felt the same way, and it was a little scary as we walked up, but we were both relieved when we walked in to the laid-back atmosphere with music, drinks, snacks and cool and helpful people working there. It was a great vibe.
The instructor, Drew, made it easy and fun for painters and nonpainters alike. You could follow along exactly, follow along and modify with different strokes or colors, or go rogue if you wanted to. Like following a recipe, I followed along exactly for my own comfort’s sake.
This was Drew’s painting, and he took us through the process of creating the sunset, the foreground, mountains, the trees with a special brush, and then we topped it off with some snow.
Drew gave great instruction and even walked around to check on us and provide help.
I liked that we could paint while chatting and catching up, too. It wasn’t all serious painting.
And here are the finished products! You could say that I need to work on my blending, for starters. Next time. 😉
And I loved the downtown location so we could pop on over to Larimer Square for dinner at Tamayo afterward.
This is a great outing for friends, date night, groups, and even for a first date.
Hope you get a chance to do something creative this weekend!
