Yesterday I posted my neutral fall centerpiece, but then I found a new gray runner at Home Goods that I’m pretty smitten with. It was one of those trips where I didn’t have much time and had to go straight to linens with tunnel vision so I didn’t get stuck in the Home Goods vortex. The good news is that I accomplished that, the bad news is that I ended up finding some Christmas options and then spent $150. So a “returns trip” will be in order, darn!
Anyway, what do you think of the new runner?
Pretty, right?
I have a lot of gray in my dining room, so I like how it ties in and adds some contrast on the tabletop.
I did switch out some of the white pumpkins for bigger ones.

So now it’s time to cast your vote! Here are both options:
Which one is your fave?
Speaking of voting, it’s been quite an emotional week. This election made history, and many people are upset and afraid. I’ve felt disheartened by both candidates the entire campaign, and it’s easy to feel like we’ve lost hope. A couple verses have provided me comfort…
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. -John 16:33
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. -Psalm 118:8
We’ve seen quite the sensational display of how imperfect our world is, and thank goodness this is not the end. I’m convicted now, more than ever, to commit to praying for our nation. And I’m also praying to not live in a spirit of fear (I can quickly go there, unfortunately), but to rely on God’s power and hope. Our Savior defines us, not our president.
And thank goodness for things like decorating and creating that we can use as an outlet from all this drama, right?! Whether it’s parenting woes or national woes, sometimes you just need to step away and clear your head, so that’s why I try to take some time [to DIY] each day or week to do something I love and stay sane! So here’s to some great holiday decorating!
And I’m getting pretty excited about Thanksgiving! We are hosting my in-laws from Miami as well as my parents and sister (will be missing my two bros), and I love a big family gathering. We are starting to think about our menu, and I will post soon.
