I’ve been eying footprint art on Pinterest for Mother’s Day gift ideas. I ended up going with a flower design because it seemed the easiest with three different sized feet. It always seems easier than it is, doesn’t it? Kiddos and paint…sigh. But they had fun.
I started with a canvas and painted it a neutral brown. Then traced a circle for the flower center to align the feet. For the feet and paint: last time I was at one of those ceramic painting places I learned to use a sponge to apply the paint. Not too much or not too little is key. And I let the kids choose their paint color, of course.
Once the paint was dry I added the black center and wrote the names and “2014” with a marker.
Then I went to Michael’s thinking they could frame them in a day. Ha! A two-week turnaround so I bought open frames and glazier points to frame them myself (way more DIY appropriate anyway). The framer lady suggested four points on each side and three on the top/bottom. I used a screw driver to push them in.
Framing was easier than I thought it would be. All done in an hour and ready to go out the next day. Whew.
Happy Mother’s Day!
