After completing the Halloween mantle I decided I needed some Halloween flair outside, which was a little challenging because I typically like cutesy, and not creepy.
Wreath Supplies:
- Straw wreath (doesn’t matter what it looks like because it will be covered).
- Black and white chevron thick ribbon from Hobby Lobby for the ribbon wrap.
- Thin colored chevron ribbon for the web, sparkly purple ribbon to hang it, and felt from Michael’s for the felt flowers.
- I used one of the spiders from the little monsters craft day, but if you don’t want to buy a whole kit, all you need are two fuzz balls and a two pipe cleaners.
- Hot Glue
First step was wrapping the ribbon around the straw wreath. After spending hours upon hours yarn wrapping other wreaths, I think I will be using ribbon from now on. It was super quick!
Then I worked on the felt flowers. There are a variety of felt flower tutorials in the 12 Days of Holiday Gifts: Felt Flower Wreath by Carina post.
Then I hot glued the colorful Chevron ribbon to the back for the spider “web.”
Mr. Spider was also hot glued. I have since added another green spider since the black didn’t show up very well.
Last step was attaching the purple ribbon to hang it. The hanger is always tricky if you have an over-the-door hanger like I do. I tied it in a knot around the wreath first, then tied the ribbon with some space for a loop to hang it.
