My four year old has been on me about Halloween decor and he finally approved my mantle. As you can see, we don’t have a lot of mantle so I had to be judicious with the space. And really it’s more for the kids so they helped with the crafting and choosing things like bats and spiders.
But I got the party started with the “Happy Halloween” sign. The straws (Target’s Dollar Spot) were my inspiration and I had some leftover redwood from my son’s submarine room project that I sprayed. I did the “Halloween” straws first, and then wrote “happy” with a thick sharpie.
The straws letters took a bit of time, but the rest was easy-peasy. Then we made some spiders. One for the mantle and a few for their rooms.
I attached the ribbon with hot glue to hang the spider.
For the garland, I used leftovers along with the webs (coasters from Michaels) and orange/black baker’s twine (Target Dollar Spot).
My four year old kept saying that the mantle was too pretty and not creepy enough, but then he was satisfied when I added the bats (Michaels).
Pumpkins and mason jar filler are from Hobby Lobby, candle holders from Pottery Barn, and the mason jar and candle sticks are from Target.
Word to the wise: Do NOT put lit candles under a TV sound bar. Yeah. Luckily my husband was very nice about it!
