It’s already week 3 of my guest room makeover for One Room Challenge! In case you missed it, here are my plans.
Like last week, I don’t have a lot of progress pictures to show you yet because I’m still in the researching and planning stages. I’m also waiting on the wallpaper (hoping it will arrive soon!) because I want make sure my paint and furniture colors jive with it.
But we did make a couple trips to Lowe’s and Home Depot!
I checked out my options for shiplap. Since I’m already behind, I don’t think I have time to do real shiplap, and it’s a little more expensive.
I’m going to do the faux shiplap technique and rip plywood. It’s 1/4-in., and I hear that Home Depot will rip it for you, so that will help out a lot.
To prep for the shiplap, we have to “fix” our baseboards because they aren’t wide enough at the top. As a sidetone: if you’re buying new construction, always ask the designer if your baseboards are wide enough for wall treatment. We did not, so now we have get a shoe to put on the top of our baseboards.
I haven’t painted it yet, but here’s what it will look like.
I can’t decide if it looks weird or if it’s an allusion because it’s not painted, but I don’t really want to install new baseboards so I guess I don’t have a choice.
To help with the baseboard and shiplap project, I just got a Ryobi ONE+ 18-Volt 15-Gauge Airstrike Cordless Angled Nailer and I’m SO excited to test it out!
And finally, let’s talk about paint! I’ve narrowed it down to these Sherwin-Williams choices.
Walls
White: Alabaster, Pure White or Extra White
Furniture/Closet/Random Accessories
Blush: Coral Perfection, Romance, Angelic
Gray: Dovetail, Mindful Gray, Light French Gray
As a refresher, this is the wallpaper.
Let me know what you think of the paint options!
I will be redoing my craft closet (I just blogged about it this week), and I’m still undecided on the color options in here…white and blush, all white, gray and blush, gray and white – the options are endless!
I’m hoping I will have more clarity once I get the wallpaper. Did I mentioned I’m anxious to get the wallpaper?
Be sure to check out the progress of the other guest participant makeovers and the designers as well. And if you haven’t seen it, here is my daughter’s blush and gold vintage glam room from last year’s One Room Challenge.

I like your baseboards with the shoe molding and I love that wallpaper! The paint colors I like best are 1,6 and 8 or 9. Good luck with this room – I think it’s going to be fabulous.

Thank you so much, Karen! I chose 1 and 9! And then I came up with another one for the blush that I will be sharing soon. 🙂
