Happy Thanksgiving week! I am getting ready for company and sprucing up the house, and I made some progress converting our front porch from fall/Halloween to harvest/Thanksgiving. I shared on Instagram a few weeks ago that my mums died. We had some 100 temps and they didn’t survive that, and I couldn’t believe it when one of my fake candles also melted! Crazy. But I was determined to try again, so I bought four more pots and I’m happy to say that three survived! I’m pretty proud of myself, haha.
Don’t they look pretty? Lesson learned, I need to wait until late October or early November to buy them. And I didn’t repot them – I just put the original pots in my decorative ones.
But my pumpkins from September survived at least!
I went with an orange/purple/copper/cream theme this year.
Can you tell it rained last night? Haven’t cleaned up the water spots yet!
Got this sign from Prickley Peach Designs (it’s double sided with a Christmas design on the back) and I love it.
And these two from Hobby Lobby.
The wreath was a DIY that I updated from an old one, you can get the details here.
We also got some new gates recently that have changed the whole look of our courtyard! Ignore that empty space on the bottom left – a pretty pot of mums was there and I didn’t replace it after they died. Oh well, next year.
We used Garden Passages in Huntington Beach for the gates, and they did a great job!
First world problems: I don’t love the color of our house – the colors and the ‘Monterrey’ style were decided for us when we bought the house, but it works really well with all the fall colors at least!
You might also like my DIY magnolia pumpkin – it’s great idea for a Thanksgiving centerpiece!
