I was so excited to work on some shower decor for this mama-to-be, my favorite cousin in New Jersey. Gender was a surprise, but she wanted it to be pretty and not gender neutral, and that worked for me!
I was charged with creating some type of photo wall with a wreath. I felt a bit blind because I couldn’t scout the location beforehand, but I did have some photos at least.
Like most last-minute crafting, you think it’s going to be a snap and then there are hiccups. Like when I only bought one stencil set and I needed two B’s. Back to Hobby Lobby I went…
And when I had this great plan to put “Baby Marchese” on the wreath, but it turns out that would have required a lot of flags so that was out.
And when I choose wool instead of felt because I thought it would look nicer, but then it’s harder to work with and I’m not very great at embroidery so…that took a few takes.
And when I failed at stenciling the onesie and had to paint and use the actual stencil instead.
And when my daughter pulled off the flowers on the frame. You can’t tell those were redone, right?
But then I packed it all into my suitcase and figured it would be safe. Better than shipping it, right?
Except that the wreath didn’t fit in my suitcase so I had to hand carry it through security. But people get rough in security and slam their things into yours, and then I had to find the nearest chair and try not to cry because the shower was the next day and I was getting in late. However, it wasn’t the end of the world, the emergency surgery later that night with packing tape, scissors and a glue gun was successful!
Then it snowed several inches during the shower. In hindsight, open-toed shoes may not have been the best choice, but I had just moved from Colorado to California so I was boycotting snow boots.
But what a beautiful time it was inside the restaurant!
The tables were gorgeous with favors made by her husband’s mom and aunt and flower arrangements put together by her mom and sister-in-law.
These were so cute with little nests and a mint EOS lip balm inside. The ribbon also had her name and shower date.
The beautiful arrangements were at each place setting. Loved the mix of roses and hydrangeas.
Carina’s friend Emily made the Baby Bingo and Baby Predictions. The predictions were fun (and funny) to read when we got home.
I was excited because I didn’t know I was getting a table to integrate with my decor, and that was the perfect set-up, along with the brick wall. I was so stressed not knowing where I would put all my decor and how it would work, and then it ended up being a better set-up than I expected. Isn’t that always the way?
Instead of bringing a card, everyone wrote in a book. Loved that idea! So practical.
Carina’s friend Denise talking all the photos (Thank you for letting me use some in this post, Denise!)
It was such a special day celebrating Baby Marchese! And, in case you’re wondering, they now have an adorable baby boy! 🙂
