We are getting ready to host Thanksgiving, and looking forward to good food and quality time with family! I’ve got my Thanksgiving decor out and table done, although our guest list has gotten a little longer so I’m going to need to extend the table and tweak it a bit! For the menu, we have a few food restrictions this year so we had to get creative. Wanted to share the menu along with my Thanksgiving decor in the kitchen.
I did a lot of sifting of my fall decor this year, and so much that I didn’t feel like I had much left, ha! But I finally pulled some things together to make it feel fall-ish and homey.
I kept my tray pretty simple with a couple pumpkins and a candle. There is a clear vase holding the sunflowers inside the metal crate.
I always try to integrate some kids crafts – love this little turkey that my son made in kindergarten.
My boys always inspire my Lightbox message – I try to use expressions they use or something funny to make them laugh. They love it.
And I love my “hello” sign that I made at Pinners last year.
This two-tiered stand from World Market is one of my faves! So many ways to decorate it. I snuck in a few Christmas sprigs here, and I think it still works for Thanksgiving!
And that cute little white pumpkin string art was made by one of my favorite makers, Blossoming Burlap.
I didn’t buy a lot of decor this year, so it was fun that my friend got me a couple things from the new Hearth & Hand with Magnolia line at Target. Loving how these look on my counter. My daughter picked out the mums. 🙂
And the rest was just sprinkling some fall decor here and there.
I made that wreath with some scraps in my craft room.
I also love putting up old fall photos. Each year I print photos from the season and then put them in a envelope with my fall decor.
Most of the decor is in the kitchen since we will be spending a lot of time here the next few days!
Of course we are excited about the food! As I mentioned, this year we have a lot of food restrictions (gluten, dairy, corn, soy free and limited grains). We try to primarily use nut flour, but since it’s Thanksgiving we will be subbing some Cup4Cup GF flour and we also have “00” Flour (it’s from Italy and supposed to be free of all the chemicals/pesticides that we have here) that our doc recommended so we might give that a try.
But some of our guests don’t have food sensitivities, so here’s how we compromised!
Thanksgiving Menu
- Turkey – using Pioneer Woman’s Roasted Thanksgiving Turkey and Brine recipes
- Turkey Gravy – subbing olive oil/GF flour
- Aunt Nancy’s Cranberry sauce – you can find the recipe here
- Wild Mushroom Stuffing – using Cloud 9 GF bread
- Basic Stuffing – with regular bread for the non-GF crowd
- Sweet Potato Casserole – another one for the non-GF crowd that my sister is making. She’s made this Ruth’s Chris recipe in the past.
- Dairy-free Mashed Potatoes
- Balsamic Roasted Brussel Sprouts
- Roasted Green Beans
- Honey Crisp Apple Sangria
- Deep Dish Apple Bourbon Streusel Pie – this is one of my faves. I will sub in the GF or “00” Flour for the regular flour/corn starch, and use coconut sugar in place of the refined sugar.
- Pumpkin and Apple Pies from Cloud 9 Bakery
We just discovered Cloud 9 Bakery (Gluten, dairy, soy free and organic) and their baked goods are a-mazing! Excited to try their pies this year!
What’s on your menu this year? Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
